The following is from Saleste, Paul H., Ninetieth Anniversary of Saint John's Evangelical and Reformed Church, January 1, 1935.
Rev. A. Klein is remembered as a cultured man with unaffected manliness, Biblical simplicity and depth of spiritual sentiment. He was at his best in the study and the sanctuary, as an interpreter of the doctrines of Divine Love and justice. During his pastorate, the small remaining debt on the new church was liquidated. The first parsonage having become old and unsuited, it was disposed of, and the minister rented his own home. But the first parsonage still stands, as one of the landmarks of Mansfield, as you may see from the picture of the second church and both parsonages; taken in recent days. A part of the story of a church, in the past at least, is the story of the parsonage, beside it. Let us not forget that.
