Mansfield News-Journal, April 21, 1958:
Rev. Harold Konz, pastor of the Redeemer Evangelical and Reformed church in Detroit, has accepted the pastorate of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church here.
The call, extended by the congregation during a meeting Sunday morning, was accepted by Rev. Konz, who has filled the Detroit pastorate since July, 1953.
The Mansfield congregation has been without a pastor since Rev. John C. Melchert left to go to Beecher, Ill., October 13.
Rev. Konz spoke at Sunday morning services at St. John's Church, and was invited to take over the pastorate during the congregational meeting which followed, an offer which was accepted. Also attending were his wife, two daughters, Gwendolyne Lee and Gail Marie, and son, Alan Ritchie, all of whom were introduced to the members.
A graduate of Heidelberg College and Eden Theological Seminary, Rev. Konz was ordained into the ministry in 1945 at Memorial Evangelical and Reformed Church in Toledo.
He served as chaplain with the United States Naval Reserves in 1945 and 1946 before becoming pastor of St. John's Church in Fostoria.
Rev. and Mrs. Konz and family expect to move to Mansfield by mid-July.
