GO YE THEREFORE AND MAKE DISCIPLES

“Reaching Out In Christian Love” Is Our Vision.  I like this vision statement, because it is an outward focus.  We are nurtured in worship so we can be concerned for those beyond us.  Christ calls us to love our neighbor as our self.  Our concern is for others.  When I was hungry you gave me food, when thirsty, you gave me drink.  When you did this to the least of these my brothers and sisters, you did it unto me.  Reaching out in Christian Love seems an appropriate vision for a church that speaks the good news to over 5,000 people weekly on television, serves over 200 people through the AA ministries, houses grief support groups, gives to domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters, habitat for humanity, food lines, disaster relief, warm blankets, mittens, denominational ministries conducted throughout state, national, and world channels, and of course ministries within our own church --- to name only a few.  Let’s continue to live out the vision daily in our prayers and actions daily as we live and pray with Christ.

The purpose of this organization shall be: to worship God, to promote the Christian Life; and to advance the Kingdom of God, both at home and abroad” -St. John’s Constitution

STRATEGIES

bullet

We will seek to find our spiritual center by encouraging prayer and the reading of scripture.

bullet

We will offer hospitality to peoples of all faiths, color, and life situations that they too may experience the love of Christ through this community of faith.

bullet

With God's help we will foster hope in others by modeling our hope in Christ who came into our human situation, suffered, died, and rose again that we should know of the great love of God for humanity.

bullet

Through our spiritual center we will extend Christ's healing hand in our acceptance of others; that in experiencing Christ's love through us, more people will be compelled to become disciples of Christ in their ministries for others.

UCC STATEMENT OF FAITH - Doxology

United Church of Christ Statement of Faith in the form of a doxology

We believe in you, O God, Eternal Spirit, God of our Savior Jesus Christ and our God, and to your deeds we testify:

You call the worlds into being, create persons in your own image, and set before each one the ways of life and death.

You seek in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin.

You judge people and nations by your righteous will declared through prophets and apostles.

In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen Savior, you have come to us and shared our common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the world to yourself.

You bestow upon us your Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.

You call us into your church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship, to be your servants in the service of others, to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil, to share in Christ's baptism and eat at his table, to join him in his passion and victory.

You promise to all who trust you forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace, your presence in trial and rejoicing, and eternal life in your realm which has no end.

Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto you.

Amen
